I'm at least going to MTAC. I may go for a Saturday on some of the local ones as well.

I have been to both Chattacon and Connooga. Plan on attending Connooga again this year. Other than the free beer at Chattacon (which I enjoy) it was really just a big party (which I enjoy). Connooga had some pretty exciting energy. Lots of things to do. No I am not jumping on these boards to get free advertisement, I am just a gamer.

I went to Chattacon about 5 years ago, and while it was fun, its just too much of a party con for me. I was in Iraq and missed Connooga but would like to go next year.

Iraq. Let me guess, business trip? Seriously thanks for going and thanks for coming back all safe a secure. Thank you for your dedication.
Back to Connooga, I had a good time last year (the first year of the con). I anticipate much more this year. The staff is really enthusiastic about putting on a good con. The panels, the seminars, the general buzz and feel of the people were good. Two years ago I went to Chattacon and it seemed like there was a lot of nothing. Gaming was a ghost town. Very little organization. Registration was a nightmare (same for last year as well). It took me over two hours to get my pre-registered pass. Yes I did say pre-registered. That was with the line with only 30 or so people. While I did enjoy the free (included in the price of registration) beer, I won't be going back.

That's why registration is so high? All this time and I never had the beer.

Assuming you mean the one in PA, according to MapQuest it is indeed further away:

Athens to Pittsburgh = Estimated Distance: 553.24 miles

Athens to Washington DC = Estimated Distance: 546.14 miles

I don't think driving the extra 7.1 miles would bother me too much :D

No, dude, you have to either drive through West Virginia or loop around through Maryland. In Winter.

reading the GenCon Forums, some of the hotels are already sold out for next year. These are not the Con-rate rooms, but rooms at full price. Con-rate rooms are cheaper but you can't get them until registration opens up sometime in April. Then you will have abour 4 minutes to get one before they sell out.

Do you have specific info yet on where CoNooga & The S.I.E.G.E. are going to be, how much entry fee will be, and how much gaming they'll have? The guys I went to Dragon*Con with are wanting to know and I'll forget if I don't ask now.
