Legend of the Seeker

Postby Forge » Thu Oct 30, 2008 5:11 pm

Ok why has no one told me about this show. I was glancing through a magazine and saw the title of this new show. The name Seeker rang a bell so I read it and, yes, its a TV show about the Sword of Truth Series. It starts this Saturday, like in 2 days.

They had a special on the making of it that I missed earlier this week. Its only going to be in syndication and I don;t know if any local channels are carrying it. You can watch the first 30 minutes of the show on line. Its also supposed to be family friendly which means it will lose something from the story right there.

I am hoping it will be good, but since the makers of hercules and Xena are doing it I have doubts.

There's also a movie, I think in theatres this Friday, that corresponds to the TV Show. I'm not familiar with the book(s), so that's about as useful as I can be, but Kevin seems to think it's a really big deal. They also re-released a (the?) book with a live action still on the cover.

Let me know if it's better than Eragon/SciFi Original quality.

the movie is the 2 hour special on TV this weekend I assume and not a theatrical release.

You can watch like the first 30 minutes of it online.

The actors don't really match the way I imagined the charcaters, but movies seldom do. Ricahrd is a little too skinny, Kahlan is not beautiful enough, Darken Rahl looks a little cheesy and not menacing enough, etc. But I will give the series a chance. FOr those who have not read the books, read them.

Also as they often do they left out and changed lots of stuff, and that was just the first 30 minutes. Why can't they just follow the books and feel they need to make all these changes.

Commonfolk expect certain things from certain media formats because the same things have been done in those formats for years/decades/centuries (depending on the format).

It airs Saturday on WGN at 5 I think. Check the time to be sure.

Since I always pictured Ashley Judd as Kahlan it would be hard to find someone pretty enough.

Been watching this show since it came out. It has very little to do with the books except some character and place names. As a TV fantasy show it is ok. I just watch it now to see where they sprinkle stuff from the books into the TV show.

This week they had Shota and the Boxes of Orden show up. Next week, oh wait thats today, will have Deena.

they aired reruns for a couple of weeks but finally had the Deena episode. I think they did a pretty good job of the mord-sith outfit. But then any good looking woman in tight leather looks pretty good I guess. :D

Have not actually watched the show yet but you can see it online:

there will be a season 2. This is not a bad show really if you just take it as a show based very loosely on the books.

It wasn't a bad little show, but some of the choices they made were a bit perplexing. Caught one last night and they had two of the mord sith making out, not the same as in the book, but still hot.

Series finale aired last night. Other than one loose end tied everything up nicely and maybe dvd sales will be enough in a few years to justify a two hour straight to dvd movie.
