The American Red Cross continues the relief efforts for residents displaced by recent flooding across Middle and West Tennessee and is currently operating 17 emergency shelters throughout the region. Persons with disaster-caused needs are encouraged to call the Red Cross at (615) 250-4250 to find an emergency shelter and talk about assistance that might be available.

An estimated 900 people were being housed in Red Cross emergency shelters across Middle Tennessee on Monday. Red Cross mass care officials distributed approximately 3,200 meals and over 10,000 snack items to shelter clients in the Nashville on Monday and an additional 600 to shelters in outlying areas. Since Saturday, approximately 7,500 meals have been distributed to shelter residents in the immediate Nashville area.

The Nashville Area Red Cross is in need of financial support to continue providing relief to victims of local disaster flooding. The American Red Cross is not a government agency. All disaster assistance is free, and is funded solely by local donations. There are several ways to give:

  • Mail a check to the Nashville Area Red Cross
