Just hemmed the tabard successfully.

I tried sewing on trim for the capelet, but screwed it up horribly. No problem, as I bought way more material than I need for just this purpose. (Sorry, that means I still don't need to go back to Joann's for more cloth.)

Completely unrelated to the fact that I hosed something up, fabric makes a most satisfying ripping sound. Which helps to calm me down after completely hosing something up.

The capelet, it lives again! No seriously, we made the thing last night, or should I say this morning after playing much rock band. Vidoe games and cosplay for a Friday night....we are such nerds.

Chad and I screwed around with Sculpey today in attempt to create a holy symbol. I think I've settled on a St. Cuthbert symbol:

Then we spray painted it with some weathered metal paint:

Here's the finished product. I'm seriously thinking about washing it with some black acrylic paint to make it look much more weathered. That's why my version (left) is very messy looking; it's supposed to be weathered metal:

Chad also created a Prophet's Cross from 7th Sea, and is currently working on some other holy symbols from various RPGs:

I should point out that this, like most of the stuff going on my costume, is going on the belt.

Here's Chad's version of the St. Cuthbert symbol:

I tried the wash effect (yes, with black acrylic--I couldn't find india ink at Walmart) and I'm kind of liking it so far:

Good point, I haven't taken a picture of it since it was finished.

You *could* get down here so we can finish taking in/hemming the robe, *then* I can take a picture of the whole thing. :P
